Recognition of Excellence in Landscape Architecture in Canada

Landscape architecture is dedicated to design and the integration of the built environment and the natural environment. The Canadian Association of Landscape Architects represents more than 1,900 landscape architects who are members of provincial or territorial associations, and in the field of university education across Canada.

13 landscaping projects recognized as models

March 15, 2013 in Ottawa, the Canadian Association of Landscape Architects today announced the National Winners of its annual Awards of Excellence. This year looks promising as 13 projects have been recognized as role models in landscape design and management.

Apart from the resulting aesthetics, landscape architecture contributes greatly to the preservation and sustainable management of the landscape. These projects help plan university campuses, transform former industrial sites into more ecologically rich landscapes, and revitalize former port and downtown areas, making them more accessible to the public and pedestrian traffic.

These artists create a very aesthetic universe that they make available to us in our daily lives. This event is made up of a national jury of experienced landscape architects, who will designate the winners. The awards are arranged in 3 categories, which are:Honor, Merit and Citations. The winners of the Honor Awards have met all the evaluation criteria in terms of excellence and the Merit Awards have met certain criteria. Quotes, on the other hand, meet specific criteria.
